Remove Radio Communication "Dead Spots"

Emergency Responder Communication Enhancement System (ERCES), also known as bi-directional amplifiers (BDAs), are required by both international building and fire code, as they upgrade the in-building radio signal to provide reliable, two-way communications for safety personnel.

During an emergency incident, 56 percent of fire departments have experienced a communications failure within a building, according to a survey by the International Association of Fire Chiefs

Radio signals are attenuated by concrete, below-ground structures, RF interference, distances from public safety radio repeater, and more, all of which may result in “dead spots” for radio communication. This creates a very real hazard to both building occupants and then emergency responders themselves.

To solve this problem, both International Building Code and International Fire Code require the installation of Emergency Responder Communication Enhancement Systems (ERCESs) to upgrade the in-building radio signal and provide reliable communications for fire, police, EMS and other public safety personnel.

The installation of ERCESs are especially important for:
