Extend the Service Life of Your Pressure Relief Valves

Pressure Relief Valves (PRVs) are commonly used in many industries to protect production facilities from an overpressure catastrophe. However, PRVs are expensive to maintain, susceptible to leaking toxic media and at risk of clogging during a polymeric process. Protect your PRV investments and reduce fugitive emissions by installing upstream rupture discs from Fike.

Take Pressure off of Your Pressure Relief Valves

Fike’s ValveGuard concept is designed to use Fike rupture discs to isolate or “guard” your PRVs from process media and the ingress from downstream contaminants. Isolating a PRV with a rupture disc provides the following advantages:

Improve Leak Tightness
Leakage is a common issue with PRVs. A rupture disc used at the inlet serves as a leak-tight barrier between the process media and the PRV.

Reduce Maintenance
The PRV will remain in good condition as long as the rupture disc has not burst. Therefore, typical service intervals can be extended considerably.

In-Situ Testing
A reverse-acting rupture disc allows for the injection of a pressurized gas between the rupture disc and valve seat of the PRV to demonstrate its safe operation, without disassembly.

Extend Valve Life
Fike rupture discs prevent process media from adhering to mechanical components of the PRV that would affect the valve performance and the safety of the system.

Protect from Corrosion
An upstream rupture disc physically isolates the PRV from process media, and thus, from corrosion, allowing for the use of “standard” PRVs.

The following rupture discs are all ideal for Fike’s Valveguard concept of protecting pressure relief valves from process media, fugitive emissions and downtime.
